Come and Gone

November is here, the hectic days are come and gone. Time to relax...

Yeah right. :-)

I got most of the stuff broken down and hauled down to the basement, with a noticable exception being my witch and my fence. Mostly because I'm lazy, but also because that fence just looks so damn good!

The boarded up windows was a big hit, lots of people commented on them. Said it made the house look creepy even in the daylight. As this was a last minute project, I'm glad I went forward on it.

Phil made his début this year and got a very good reaction. Mostly he just kinda sat there, doing his thing, but at one point in the evening, a group of young girls came up. One of them stood a little too close to the edge of the side walk, right at the apex of Phil's reach. She didn't notice him until the tip of his finger touched her ankle, at which point she jumped out of her skin!

I was very satisfied how well my witch worked, considering all the problems in years past.

Not all it's cracked up to be...

Well, the clay I used on Witch Hazel's new head isn't all that it's cracked up to be...

Witch Hazel

One of my goals for this year was a rebuild of Witch Hazel. And since there are only 2 weeks until Halloween, what's the worst that could happen??

Fall Festival

Liam volunteered to work at the Fall Festival his school was hosting this year. Only he really didn't communicate this all that well. There was no time to get a ghost costume ready, so I pulled out some cheese cloth I had made ready for Sarah.

Tilt-focus Fun

Not exactly Halloween related, but kinda fun....

I was going over some old slides we got from my wife's parents years ago that I scanned in, finally getting all the images cleaned up, when I ran across a neat street scene. A fairly standard picture until I put my twisted little mind around it.

A little bit ago, I learned how to simulate taking a "tilt-focus" picture, which is a technique of making real-life object look like they are miniatures. I applied it to this picture, and, well, you be the judge:

Column Update

Finished all the heavy lifting on the two columns for the cemetery fence by applying the last bit of Monster Mud to the service.

Something fibreglass this way comes...

In the dark corners of a hardly used room of the Catholic school somewhere in central Indiana they'd lain hidden... Waiting...

Silently clicking off the days, the hours until they could make ready their escape.
The powers that kept them considered them quiescent and insert. Their potential forever unlocked, forever unrealized. Those beings were wrong...

For the waiting ones were patient. They know that the day would come. And on that day, some gentle soul would lift them up from their shared casket, from the musty darkness and into the light. That day, was today...

Who's in the First

Here is my interpretation of the classic Abbott and Costello "Who's On First". This has been bent towards Halloween...

Columns

Found a boatload of scrap wood this year so I decided to give columns for my cemetery fence another go. I tried it a couple of years agp, but was never happy with the results and the durned things kept getting knocked/blown over, so I pulled them before Halloween...

Corpse Hands

I made a little tutorial on making of Corpse Hands the other day and added it to my Graveyard site. Then I converted it for the website Instructables.com. It quickly got approved as a Featured tutoial, then othe other day it became a Popular one...

Phillip LIVES! Sort of

My grave grabber I mentioned earlier lives again. I took apart the gear box and found a couple of the gears had gotten seperated from each. Once put back together, it works just fine.

Finial Failure

Deciding that the cemetery fence lacked a certain je ne se qua, I wanted to make my own finials for the individual posts, being too cheap to actually buy them (there are a lot of posts).

My Halloween already hates me...

It's the end July and I can tell this ain't gonna be good. I've turned into the opposite of King Midas, as everything I've touched has turned into crap...

Are they orange yet??!

In an effort to stave off the high cost of hiring pumpkins (and paying off their families when they meet their fate), I am endevouring to grow my own fruity minions...

Ah, Spring, When a Young Man's Fancy Turns to Thoughts of...

Halloween, of course.

About time I dusted off my little blog and get busy again. I promised myself last fall that when it warms up again, I'd start by doing maintenance on my props, especially my FCG Sarah. She was a bitter disappointment last year, continually breaking down and distracting me. Come the weekend, I shall remedy that. Just you wait!
